The Influence of Covert Narcissism on Internet Addiction : Mediating effect of Experiential Avoidance

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of the experiential avoidance on the relationship between covert narcissism and internet addiction. Survey for this study was conducted to 404 College students recruited from the Universities in Metropolitan Seoul and Gyeonggi areas. with Covert Narcissism Scale, Acceptance & Action Questioninaire-16, Internet Addiction Proneness Scale for Adults. Data were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. The results of this study were as follows : First, covert narcissism was positively correlated with internet addiction and experiential avoidance. Second, the relationship analysis by Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) demonstrated that experiential avoidance was partly mediated the relation between covert narcissism and internet addiction. Finally, based on the results, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
